Aging/Elder CareLeadership:Roberta Gosier, Chair 301.589.7438 Purpose: - Defining needs of frail and elderly persons in our parish community
- Recruiting volunteers with different skills and interests to assist the elderly in the parish
- Addressing the defined needs through one-on-one or team volunteer placement
- Referral to appropriate resources in the community as required
- Serving as an ongoing, visible part of the parish community.
Membership/volunteer criteria:- Interested volunteers should plan to attend a ministry meeting – on the 3rd Saturday of the month in the rectory
- Training and orientation provided through the Holy Faith Community Nurse Program and training specific to individual clients will be provided as needed
- References of volunteers may be done as appropriate.
Volunteer opportunities:- Service on the Committee through provision of individual service to elders in the community such as, visiting, grocery shopping, driving to doctor or other appointments, assistance with personal paperwork, mail review and bill paying.
- Time commitments are flexible and can be adjusted to the volunteer’s availability.
Meeting schedule: Third Saturday of each month in the Library in the rectory. Near-term goals: - Train rectory staff in how to respond to calls for help by phone or in person.
- Establish referrals to Committee “on call” person
- Increase parish awareness of the work of the Committee.
